Now on eating-together-platform MealsUnite.com!
Amsterdam, 01 April 2019 – On food-sharing and booking platform Meals Unite, a new ‘host’ has arrived: the Syrian Jay Asad offers an extensive Syrian buffet on Saturday the 6th and on Saturday the 13th of April. Both these dinners will take place at the former Bijlmerbajes on the Wenckebachweg in Amsterdam, where Asad – an entrepreneur pur sang – founded his company StartUp Kitchen for Syrian catering, company outings and cooking workshops after gaining his refugee status in the Netherlands. Now, he is also hosting two MealsUnite dinners.
The dinner will take place on 6 and 13 April 2019 on the grounds of the Bijlmerbajes, where Jay will prepare a Syrian buffet together with his passionate chefs. You can register via mealsunite.com and the costs for a meal are 55 euros, wine included. ‘’A warm experience for all participants’’, says Asad. With over thirty years of international business experience, he launched many companies in the sectors of Hospitality, Food and Recreation during his glorious international career. ‘’That success is behind me, but I see plenty of new opportunities here. I fled from Syria to the Netherlands three years ago and I’m determined to help fellow refugees realize their ambition and also help to set them up their own business.’’
Together is more fun
Nothing connects more than eating together, says Meals Unite-initiator René Bakker. If it’s up to him, nobody eats alone this spring. ‘At Meals Unite, we feel that having dinner together is more fun than eating alone. With your plate on your lap in front of the TV can be quite nice sometimes, but of course not every day. Think of us as “LinkedIn live”, where people get to know each other personally and in a more informal way: around the table. That is not only fun, but also important, because research has shown that eating together makes you happier. You get to know new people and (their) cultures, and who knows you will meet the love of your life. It’s all in a meal!’’
